Howard Day Dies at Danville Hospital -- Howard Day died Sunday morning at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, Ill as a result of injuries received last Thursday morning while trying to cross the C & EI RR at his home town, Yeddo. Young Day was employed as a section hand on the rr and had a few days before the accident received his questionnaire and being anxious to get it in on time had started to Covington with it in his Ford automobile when the accident occurred. The Veedersburg News of last week contained the following notice of the accident, which is in fact correct: Howard Day, 19, son of Thomas Day of Yeddo was seriously injured Thursday morning when a work train on the C & EI RR struck his Ford at the crossing at Yeddo and carried him and his machine a 100 yards up the track.  It is feared that his skull is fractured, besides being terriby bruised.  Dr. Cuthbert and Dr. Sparks were called and dressed the wounds but the injuries were so serious that he was removed to the hospital at Danville where he had not regained consciousness at 5 o'clock Thursday evening. Howard really never regained consciousness but gradually grew weaker until the end. The body was taken to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Day of Yeddo, Sunday afternoon. Funeral services were held from the Centennial United Brethren Church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Cornelius Airhart of Greencastle preached the funeral discourse. The body was interred in the Centennial Cemetery.
